Welcome to Sustainable Reentry, the web log devoted to identifying space technologies that could potentially be developed into sustainable technologies, as well as relevant ventures, business opportinities, and commercialization vehicles. Fantastic technology has been developed for supporting humanity in space. The goal of this web log is the explore the possibilities of bringing back this technology to works towards a more sustainable society on Earth. Energy and life support technologies will most frequently be covered, but anything within the broad category of space and sustainability is fair game.
I am the only author thus far, but more may be on the way. By way of introduction, I am a business person, but also a lawyer and a physicist, so I am familiar with the technology commercialization process from conception in the lab all the way, to legal protection, to production and delivery to the customer. I am not presently an employee of NASA (my last stint there was at the ARC wind tunnels in 2003). However, I used to be a contract worker involved in the commercialization of NASA technology, and I am have seen the gems NASA has to offer. I have also seen the ugly mess of bureaucracy and red tape these technologies can be tied up in, but there are ways to deal with that.
Obtaining details about some of these technologies and ventures can be extremely challenging. However, it is expected that Sustainable Reentry will be able to obtain better and more complete information as it matures. In addition, appearance and readability improvements will be made as well. Your patience and understanding is requested in this regard.
I hope you will enjoy this web log,
Mark Ciotola
